If you follow me on Twitter or Instagram you probably already know. But, my first draft of Book of Yaudi is complete.
Of course, that means the writing journey hasn’t ended but only truly hit its stride. I already have many big, small, and even smaller changes planned for the second draft. Many of my changes will be adding some more character details, connecting worldbuilding ideas a bit better, adjusting chapter lengths, and better characterization through dialogue.
That being said I will be taking a short break away from the novel so it has time to steep. I will still be posting new chapters every other day, until I’ve posted all of the chapters (then I have no idea what I’ll post).
As well, I would still like any possible beta-readers to read through the first draft and to give me their honest opinions.
Some in total, my game plan before finishing the second draft is:
- Find beta readers
- Start working out my own desire for fixes, organize my ideas so that the second draft is completed a lot smoother
- Work on making the map look better (I would love to have a professional map made, but that’s a hefty cost)
- Continue building a community around my novel (I would love for fan art, discussion and all that to take place, but that sort of connection takes time)
- Actually do the second draft
A lot of work, but I’m hopeful and optimistic that it will work out great. I really believe I have something special with Book of Yaudi and I can’t wait to fully share it and the world of Ptansia to more and more people.
